Counseling
It’s our desire and responsibility as elders and staff to provide biblical counsel for our membership as an aid in their sanctification and growth. We realize the struggle with sin is a normal part of the Christian life and that there are often individuals, families and marriages which need a greater level of accountability to gain victory. This is where counseling, or discipleship, comes in. Our approach to counsel is based on the belief that the best counsel arises from the context of normal and regular fellowship within the Body of Christ. We deny the popular “therapeutic” and intergrationist model of ongoing self-focused “sessions” which places undo attention on the sin and not enough attention on the Savior and repentance. Alternatively, we focus on a biblical, concise, compassionate and caring confrontation of sin and/or insertion of hope with the goal of restoration.
Our counsel is not aimed at personal happiness or fulfillment, but selflessness. This was the emphasis of our Lord Jesus Christ. We encourage individuals, marriages and families to lay aside their sins and strife and be about the business of making much of Christ on this earth. In short, the Church is not on this earth to provide free therapy sessions, but to bring glory to His name through the broken, sanctified and humble lives of its members.
Our staff, which includes certified and degreed counselors, focuses on providing counsel for our own membership. Although we encourage individuals to seek counsel within their own local churches, we will on occasion meet with those outside of CBC. We provide Pre Marital, Marriage & Family and Crisis Intervention. For an appointment please contact the .
